Simple stuff

A short quiz, for the purposes of getting to know one another just a bit better…
Name: Louise

Age: 30

Birthday: 8th May

Occupation: Teacher

Location: London, although most of my family is on the south coast, where I grew up.

Siblings:  One sister, 17 months younger than me, named Victoria.

Passions and interests:  Reading, writing, drawing, mindfulness, nature, education, frugal living, animal welfare, minimalism, cooking, plant-based food, walking, camping, history.

Favourite movies: The ones that come to mind are Lost in Translation, Life of Brian, The Godfather and Crazy Heart, although there are a million films I love!

Favourite music:  Crosby, Stills and Nash, Joni Mitchell, Jackson Browne, The Band, Gram Parsons.  I’m mostly into singer-songwriters with a country-folk feel… but I also love soul, like Al Green and the Chi-Lites.  (Yes, I probably should have been born several decades earlier.)

Favourite food:  I make a delicious vegan chilli, if I say so myself!

Favourite colour:  Right now, probably a sort of greyish powder blue.

Favourite writers:  Jim Harrison, Cormac McCarthy, James Lee Burke, Jane Austen, Pema Chodron, Sebastian Faulks, Maya Angelou, Charles Dickens, Roald Dahl, Michael Morpurgo, Wendell Berry, John Robbins, Kurt Vonnegut.

Favourite recent holiday destination:  Rhodes is beautiful, and the history in the old town is amazing.

Favourite season:  Autumn

Favourite sports team:  Harlequins rugby

Best friends:  Lucy, Lisa, Claire, Mhairi, Helen, my mum and sister

One fact:  I gave up alcohol back in June (for health, social and general well-being reasons) and haven’t touched a drop since.

Beverage of choice:  Water, tea or coffee, depending on my mood.

Favourite things to do at the weekend:  Walk.  Grab coffee or lunch with friends.  Write.  Read.  Explore London.  Escape to the sea.  Blog.  Draw.  Visit castles or stately homes (thank you, National Trust!)

Favourite quote:  There are so many.  But I do love Cormac McCarthy’s “You never know what worse luck your bad luck has saved you from.”  I believe that to be true.
