A simple longing

A simple longing

A simple longing

Here in the clamorous night

my fingers upon your mouth

the summer birds seek shores

untouched by rain,

silver and silent in their flight.

And I can think of no greater joy

beneath these wild oyster stars

than to fall asleep in the cold grass

and be licked awake by daylight.

  1. Marvelous poem. Loved the vivid imagery and the contrasts that really work well together, “clamorous night” and “silver and silent flight” of the birds. Beautiful.
    Thank you for sharing.

  2. I hope I’m following your blog. I signed up to do so anyway. I so wanted to comment on one of your posts that I found on my reader which means I guess that I was following you then at least and I could find no comment box. Do you close comments on some of your posts? It really was a very lovely and profound paragraph that I found and I really wanted to be able to tell you that, but now I don’t even remember which post it was. Blessings, Natalie 🙂 <3

    1. Hi Natalie! Thank you so much for following and for reading. I don’t close comments, so I’m not sure why you weren’t able to post… The only thing I can think is that, whilst I show the entire post on my home page rather than just an excerpt, you have to click on the title to the actual blog post page to write a response. Either way, it’s lovely to have you as a reader and I enjoy visiting your blog for some calming inspiration! 🙂

      1. Hi! I did click over and read the whole thing but it was in the reader on my phone so maybe that was the problem! I’m just sorry I didn’t get to tell you how wonderful it was‼️❌⭕️ Thanks for you kind words about my blog😊❤️

Please share your thoughts! I'd love to hear from you.
