Shoestring September

Shoestring September

I only have time to write briefly, on the short train journey to work, but I wanted to pledge my promise to seriously curb my spending this month, sticking to only absolute needs and pre-organised events.  I should clarify further by saying that my focus is on cutting out the additional material objects and focusing more on experiences.  So £40 for a train journey to meet my friend for a weekend camping trip is allowed.  £11 on random food on the way home from work, when I already have food in the cupboard, is not.

I will write more this evening about my goals, reasons and the rules of my decreased spend period, but it is so important to me to align my short-term actions with my long-term vision for my life and my priorities.  I need to revisit this now, as the teaching term is a week and a half in and things are getting crazy busy.  If I don’t do it now, I fear getting swept away in the wave of work, tiredness and life stresses that are not necessarily aligned with the things I have a passion for.

I look forward to posting again later but, in the meantime, do you have any specific goals or challenges for this month?  What are the motivations behind them?  And what bogs you down or makes you feel as though you are not feeding and growing your passions?  I’d love to hear from you!
